Samsung’s ‘Galaxy Unpacked 2025’ event witnessed the launch of the Galaxy S25 series and new AI features. The event’s main surprise was the anticipated Galaxy S25 Edge, which was officially teased. It features an ultra-slim profile with flat edges. Having said that, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge might see competitors like the iPhone 17 Air/Slim and if the latest Weibo post from tipster DigitalChatStation is anything to go by, there will be more slim phones this year.
More slim phones tipped to launch soon
- Going into details, tipster DigitalChatStation on Weibo says that more smartphone manufacturers will launch ultra-slim phones this year.
- Though not explicitly mentioned, Xiaomi, Vivo, and OPPO could (via) be the brands to introduce their slim phones in 2025 to take on the new Galaxy S25.
- However, unlike the Samsung offering, DCS notes that these models from Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo could be positioned as mid-range and sub-series phones.

- Besides these, Apple is also said to be working on its own slim phone, rumoured to be called iPhone 17 Slim/Air. This is said to be just 5.5mm in thickness.
- Furthermore, DCS adds that the battery capacity on these phones (Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi) will be bigger than Apple and Samsung models.
- Considering leaks claim a battery capacity between 3,000mAh to 4,000mAh for the S25 Edge and iPhone 17 Air/Slim, we expect Xiaomi, Vivo, and OPPO slim phones could have cells upwards of 4,000mAh.
Furthermore, DCS claims the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will sport a 6.7-inch display with four-sided straight screen. It is tipped to arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset with a clock speed of 4.47GHz and a rated battery capacity of 3,786mAh (typical capacity is 3,900mAh).
While the tipster has mentioned the 2025 launch for the slim phones from Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo, no specific timeline has been revealed at the moment. Since this is just an early leak, we suggest you take it with a pinch of salt and wait for more details to come our way.
