OnePlus and PUBG have announced a partnership that brings 90 FPS mode for the first time to the popular game. As you can expect, this feature will be exclusively available to select OnePlus phones, essentially phones that support 90Hz refresh rate. This includes the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro, and OnePlus 7 Pro. The company says OnePlus users around the world, excluding Mainland China, Japan, and Korea, will have exclusive access to the 90 FPS mode from August 6th to September 6th. While this feature should offer a smoother gameplay experience, it will likely drain the phone’s battery faster compared to other modes.

“OnePlus is very close with our community of tech enthusiasts, so we know that mobile gamers are looking for a more immersive and smoother experience. That’s exactly what we are delivering with this exclusive 90 FPS experience with PUBG MOBILE, one of the world’s most downloaded mobile games,” said Pete Lau, Founder and CEO of OnePlus. “We will continue pushing mobile gaming to new levels through our industry-leading displays, powerful performance, and fast and smooth overall user experience.”

OnePlus had a similar partnership with Epic Games for Fortnite gaming experience on its phones with 90Hz display recently. OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro were the first phones to run Fortnite game at 90 fps whereas it runs only at 60 fps on consoles like the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One X. While it is available on other OnePlus phones such as OnePlus 6, the gameplay is restricted to the standard 60 fps.
