PUBG Mobile India: name, gameplay, and other changes

PUBG has announced a handful of changes for its mobile version in India so far. For starters, the game will have a new logo and moniker – ‘PUBG Mobile India’. The game will be separate from the global version, much like the Korean and the Chinese, and will give top priority to players’ privacy and security. There will be “regular audits and verifications on the storage systems holding Indian users’ personally identifiable information to reinforce security and ensure that their data is safely managed,” the company said.

As for the PUBG Mobile India gameplay, all characters will be fully clothed from the very beginning and the game will show less visual bloodshed as the blood will be green instead of red. The game will also offer a virtual simulation training ground setting and time restriction to promote healthy gameplay habits. That said, the developers say PUBG Mobile India will not be ‘fundamentally’ different from PUBG Mobile. Developers also assured that players will be able resume with their old IDs and achievements. This, however, is not applicable to users with banned profiles.

In addition to the in-game changes, PUBG Corporation’s parent company Krafton is readying to set up an Indian subsidiary to communicate better with the players and provide localised support. The company will invest $100 million in the country and hire over 100 employees to run the game in India.

PUBG Mobile India release date

PUBG Mobile India release date has not been revealed yet but the company is expected to launch the game before the end of the year. PUBG Mobile India is already up for pre-registrations and the company has begun teasing the game’s arrival through its social media accounts. According to a new report by Times of India, the government remains unfazed on its decision to ban PUBG Mobile and “unless they (PUBG Corporation) address the concerns, it will be difficult to grant any relaxation [to PUBG Mobile].”

Rumours are rife that the government may change its decision if it gets to see the new version of the app and analyse its policies. The Indian Express reports that the officials have not seen the new PUBG Mobile India game so far.
