Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G SoC announced; Xiaomi to launch phone with this chipset

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G is the latest 7-series chipset
  • The SoC supports 5G, Snapdragon Elite gaming, and is Wi-Fi 6-ready
  • Xiaomi plans to launch a phone soon with the Snapdragon 750G SoC

Qualcomm has introduced the new Snapdragon 750G 5G mobile platform as the newest addition to the Snapdragon 7-series. The chipset comes integrated with the Snapdragon X52 5G Modem-RF system that supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz, SA and NSA modes, TDD, FDD, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), and global roaming and global multi-SIM. Qualcomm says that this modem-to-antenna solution allows the devices powered by the Snapdragon 750G to support multi-gigabit connections with “lightning-fast upload and download speeds.” The chipset also offers Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite gaming for smooth and low-latency gameplay experience. The Adreno 619 GPU enables up to 10 percent better graphics compared to Snapdragon 730G.

The Snapdragon 750G is Wi-Fi 6-ready and is equipped with the 5th generation Qualcomm AI Engine that enables the smart camera and video, voice translation, advanced AI-based imaging, and AI-enhanced gaming experiences. The 5th gen AI Engine can deliver up to 20 percent improvement compared to Snapdragon 730G and the chipset can perform up to 4.0 trillion operations per second. The Kyro 570 CPU can deliver up to 20 percent compared to the Snapdragon 730G. It comes with always-on Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which combines multiple data streams for contextual use-cases: a low-power Qualcomm AI Engine enables AI-based echo cancellation and background noise suppression to offer improved voice-chat gaming experience and has support for always-on voice assistants.

The Snapdragon 750G is equipped with Qualcomm Spectra 355L Image Signal Processor, Dual 14-bit ISPs, support for up to 32MP+16MP dual cameras with zero shutter lag, HEIC photo capture, and HEVC video capture. The chipset supports up to FHD+ 120Hz display, 12GB LPDDR4x RAM, and NFC. Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G-powered commercial devices are expected to launch by the end of 2020. The mobile processor is also pin- and software-compatible with Snapdragon 690 5G Mobile Platform. Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be the first brand to launch a phone based on the new Snapdragon 750G.
