
Qualcomm announces its flagship Snapdragon processor at an annual summit held towards the end of the year. For the last two years, the chipmaker conducted the event in October. Previous summits took place in either November or December. Now a reliable Chinese tipster has shared the launch timeline of Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. It is said to be releasing quite early.
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2’s early arrival tipped
- Per Digital Chat Station (via), Qualcomm plans to announce the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset in late September.
- This means that it could arrive a month earlier compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite that was unveiled on October 21st.
- The tipster also claims that the first wave of phones powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 would debut in October.
- This is usually the case as OEMs start launching their devices equipped with the latest flagship SoC a month after the announcement at least in China first.
- This year, the Xiaomi 16, OnePlus 14, iQOO 14 etc are expected to be the phones to adopt the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
- The early arrival of Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship chipset will also allow brands to compete against Apple’s iPhones that usually debut in September.
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2: what we know
- As per rumours, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is said to be based on TSMC’s 3nm process node.
- Compared to its predecessor, the new chipset is said to offer 30 percent and 25 percent increase in GPU and CPU performance respectively.
- The chipset will also feature Adreno 840 GPU clocked at 1.35GHz.
- The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is rumoured to have a base frequency of 4.4GHz and come with second-generation Oryon CPU cores.
- In AnTuTu’s benchmark test results, the upcoming chipset is said to score over 3.8 million points.
