The Realme 13 Pro series has been launched in India officially and this will succeed the Realme 12 Pro lineup, bringing some notable improvements in the camera department. The successor brings a more powerful chipset and a new Sony sensor. We compare the Realme 13 Pro with its predecessor – the Realme 12 Pro – with regard to specifications to see what the upgrades are.

Realme 13 Pro 5G vs Realme 12 Pro 5G: design
Realme 13 Pro and Realme 12 Pro have a near-identical design. We get a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper on the front and the bezels are narrow. There are curved edges to the sides, but the curvature is more apparent on the Realme 12 Pro than on the Realme 13 Pro. The volume rocker and power buttons are on the right edge.
The Realme 12 Pro features a leather back panel with a vertical strap running in the middle. The Realme 13 Pro instead gets a glass finish with Monet Gold and Monet Purple colours, while the Emerald Green gets a leather finish. There is a circular camera module on the back which houses triple cameras.
The Realme 13 Pro gets a 9-layer cooling system, with a large tempered VC and graphite to dissipate heat. We get an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance and Swiss SGS Premium Performance 5 stars Drop resistance. It can withstand drops from a maximum height of 1.65 meters onto granite ground from all six sides and corners.
On the other hand, the Realme 12 Pro also features an IP65 rating for the same level of water and dust resistance, besides having a vapour chamber. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor on both models for security.
Realme 13 Pro 5G vs Realme 12 Pro 5G: display
Though the display sizes and the panel used are the same i.e. OLED, the main takeaway in the display department is the brightness levels of the screens. The Realme 13 Pro brings a brighter display at 2000nits compared to the 950 nits brightness on the predecessor. This should result in brighter visibility when it comes to viewing HDR content.
Rest, the displays are identical with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Realme 13 Pro 5G vs Realme 12 Pro 5G: performance
The Realme 13 Pro gets an upgraded chipset and this means the performance will be superior in comparison, on paper at least. The app opening speeds, scrolling through the UI and other tasks should be a breeze. The company claims the 12GB/512GB model can score up to 683k points in the AnTuTu benchmark platform. We also get a 3D VC cooling system for heat dissipation during gaming or extensive tasks.
For context, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 on the Realme 12 Pro scored 564,897 in the same AnTuTu benchmark. This difference in scores should be reflected in the day-to-day usage. We haven’t tested this for ourselves yet.
Realme 13 Pro 5G vs Realme 12 Pro 5G: cameras
The Realme 13 Pro comes with the in-house AI HyperRAW Algorithm, which is claimed to significantly boost image clarity and dynamic range to capture authentic light and shadow with true-to-life results. The inclusion of Sony LYT-600 on the phone makes the phone one-of-a-kind in the segment and this is a huge upgrade to the camera department. We should have more to talk about the camera performance in our complete review.
However, the Realme 13 Pro lacks a telephoto sensor, which is present on the Realme 12 Pro setup. This means you can no longer click zoom photos without noise. The selfie camera is upgraded from a 16MP shooter on the predecessor to a 32MP unit. This should bring sharper and crisp selfies.
Realme 13 Pro 5G vs Realme 12 Pro 5G: battery, OS
Realme 13 Pro gets a notable improvement in the battery department too, thanks to a larger 5,200mAh cell compared to the 5,000mAh battery on the predecessor. This should result in longer screen-on-time durations and the battery on the whole should last considerably longer on regular usage.
However, the successor only gets 45W charging speed, which is a downgrade from the 67W on the Realme 12 Pro. This should impact the overall charging times of the phone.
Both phones run on the same Android 14 OS out of the box.
Verdict
Realme 13 Pro is a considerable upgrade over the Realme 12 Pro. We get a powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset compared to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC. This should bring some notable improvements to the overall performance of the phone. The battery size is also bumped from a 5000mAh cell to a 5,200mAh unit.
We get a Sony LYT-600 primary camera sensor, which is claimed to be the first price segment. The selfie camera is also upgraded to a 32MP shooter from a 16MP lens.
However, there are some downgrades too. We no longer have a telephoto sensor, which made the Realme 12 Pro camera setup versatile. Instead, there is a 2MP macro unit. The fast charging speed is downgraded to 45W from 67W on the predecessor.
