With the launch of the new device, the Realme 8 series in India now has three devices, the Realme 8, the Realme 8 5G, and the Realme 8 Pro. While most people may think that the Realme 8 5G just adds the 5G connectivity over the Realme 8 4G, that is not the case. The 5G and the 4G models differ quite a lot in terms of specifications. In fact, the Realme 8 5G is India’s first phone to come with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset.

Realme 8 5G price in India

The Realme 8 5G price in India is Rs 14,999 for the 4GB RAM+128GB storage variant. The phone also comes in an 8GB+128GB configuration and it costs Rs 16,999. The Realme 8 5G is available in two colors in India – Supersonic Blue and Supersonic Black.

Realme 8 5G specifications

Starting with the display, the Realme 8 5G features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD with Full HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, and Dragontrail glass for protection. The display has a punch-hole mounted to the top-left corner of the screen. According to Realme, the screen has a maximum brightness of 600 nits.

Moving on to the processor, the Realme 8 5G uses the 2.2GHz MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G SoC. The chipset is made on a 7nm fabrication process and it has 4x Cortex-A76 CPU cores, 4x Cortex-A55 CPU cores, and Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. As for the software, the Realme 8 5G runs on the Android 11 OS with Realme UI 2.0 customization. Along with the RAM and storage configuration mentioned above, the Realme 8 5G also has a dedicated microSD card slot that can support up to 1TB. Notably, the phone supports Dynamic RAM Expansion, which can extend the RAM by using internal storage.

As for the imaging, the Realm 8 5G comes with a triple-camera setup at the rear. It has a 48MP primary camera, a 2MP monochrome camera, and a 2MP depth camera. The phone has a 16MP camera at the front. The main camera at the rear and camera at the front can record videos at Full HD resolution with 30 frames per second frame rate.

In terms of battery, the Realme 8 5G packs a 5,000mAh Li-Po unit with 18W fast charging. There is a 5G Power Saving Mode, which, according to Realme, will intelligently switch the device between 4G and 5G network, which can save up to 30 percent battery. The smartphone has a fingerprint scanner mounted to the right-hand side of the device.

Coming to the connectivity, the Realme 8 5G, as the name suggests, features support for the 5G cellular network. The device has two SIM card slots and both of them can run on a 5G SA/NSA network simultaneously. Other connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Realme 8 5G measures 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.5mm and weighs 185 grams.
