If there’s one brand that stays abreast with the latest smartphone trends, it’s Realme. Remember India’s first smartphone with a 64MP camera – Realme XT (review)? Or the Realme X (review), which was among the first mid-range offerings with a pop-up camera? The latest trend that Realme now plans to offer is that of 108MP camera sensors. Yes, we’re talking about the Realme 8 Pro, the first smartphone in the brand’s lineup with a high-res Samsung HM2 sensor. It’s worth noting that the Realme 8 Pro isn’t the first phone or even the first mid-range phone with a 108MP camera. However, it could very well be the most affordable smartphone with such a shooter. While we’ll only get to know the details on the Realme 8 Pro India launch event – scheduled for March 24th, let’s take a look at the Realme 8 Pro camera capabilities for now.

Realme 8 Pro camera specs

Like most smartphones these days, the 8 Pro features a quad-camera setup. The array is headlined by the 108MP sensor, which is accompanied by an 8MP f/2.25 ultra-wide shooter, a 2MP black and white portrait lens, and a 2MP macro snapper. The combination ensures that you can capture various scenarios with ease. The Realme 8 Pro also offers 3x in-sensor zoom.

Realme 8 Pro camera UI

It’s worth noting that the Realme 8 Pro comes with the Realme UI 2.0 out of the box, which is based on Android 11. Not that this has much of an impact on the camera UI… it should feel quite familiar if you’ve ever used a Realme phone before. Holding the phone in vertical orientation, you’ll find controls for flash, HDR, AI, filters, and a gear icon for camera settings on the top of the viewfinder. At the very bottom, you’ll find the shutter button sandwiched between the preview gallery and toggle for the front camera. Above that, there are various modes such as video, portrait, 108MP, etc. Clicking on more brings up additional shooting modes such as Starry mode, slo-mo, AI Mixed Portrait, and more. Above these modes, there’s a zoom option, AI beautification, and Google Lens.
