- Realme GT 2 series hasn’t been launched by the company at today’s event
- The company has detailed three new innovations: communication, photography, and design
- Realme GT 2 Pro is expected to come with an in-display camera sensor
Realme GT 2 Pro was expected to debut at an event in China today but the company limited it to just the innovations the flagship is set to bring. At the event, Realme also said the GT 2 series will be launching soon, but with no exact date announced. We can probably speculate the phones will debut in the first quarter of 2022 and will launch in India as well. The Realme GT 2 Pro is confirmed to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset. It is said to be the world’s first phone to come with new bio-based material, which the brand calls ‘Paper Tech Master’ design. This material and developed in association with Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. Realme has introduced a new retail box for the GT 2 Pro, with plastic usage reduced from 21.7 percent to just 0.3 percent.
Realme GT 2 Pro innovations
Realme GT 2 Pro’s design is inspired by paper, with a premium minimalist look to reduce carbon emission. The company is exploring a sustainable product design as a step towards a greener environment. It says that 3.5 million bottles are reduced for every 1 million Realme GT 2 Pro units sold. Realme is collaborating with Sabic, a prominent global materials company. The materials used are not only environmentally friendly but are also as strong and durable as traditional materials.
The back panel of the upcoming phone will feature a new bio-polymer material that has reportedly passed the ISCC International Sustainability and Carbon Certification, and other regulatory standards such as REACH, RoHS, and EPEAT.
Realme GT 2 Pro will be the first phone to come with an ultra-wide-angle lens with 150-degrees FoV (field of view). This expands the phone’s field of view by 278 percent compared to 84-degree FoV.
In addition to 150-degree FoV, there’s also a new Fish Eye mode that will allow the phone to capture landscapes or photos with an ultra-long depth of field effect.
Realme GT 2 Pro will come with a new Antenna Array Matrix System that comprises three technologies — the world’s first ultra-wide-band antenna-switching technology (HyperSmart), a Wi-Fi Enhancer, and 360-degree NFC.
Realme says the HyperSmart antenna switching technology uses 12 wrap-around antennas that cover all sides of the phone and support mainstream bands in all directions. The company says this will allow the Realme GT 2 Pro to evaluate the signal strength of all antennas simultaneously and pick the one with the best signal for better stability.
The Wi-Fi Enhancer will use a symmetrical Wi-Fi antenna to ensure balanced signal strength around the phone. The technology improves Wi-Fi signal stability by 20 percent compared to an asymmetrical Wi-Fi antenna design.
Realme GT 2 Pro will also integrate the top two cellular antennas with an NFC signal transceiver function. This will increase the NFC sensing area by 500 percent and reduce the sensing distance by 20 percent, thereby allowing users to use NFC-powered features through the upper part of the device.
Realme GT 2 Pro design teased?
While detailing the Realme GT 2 Pro innovations, the company is one of the slides (while explaining the HyperSmart antenna switching technology to be precise) showed off a render of a phone with no selfie camera cutout on the front. This caught our attention. Now, there’s no way to tell for certain that this is indeed the Realme GT 2 Pro or just a generic mockup, but there are very good chances that it could be the phone considering recent rumours have pointed out the Realme GT 2 Pro Special Edition could come with an in-screen selfie snapper.
That’s all we have for now, but stick around for more details around the phone that the company releases over the next few weeks.
