The move to remove chargers from smartphone retail boxes started with Apple and Samsung but it seems more brands are following the trend. Realme will be the next brand to remove the in-box charger with the launch of the Realme Narzo 50A Prime in India. The Realme Narzo 50A Prime debuted in Indonesia a couple of weeks back and the company has confirmed it will launch in India soon, but without a bundled charger.

Realme in its community post confirmed the Narzo 50A Prime will debut in India shortly. However, the phone’s retail box package will not include the charging brick. It will be the first phone from Realme to omit a charger in the box. Much like Apple and Samsung, Realme is aiming to reduce carbon emissions with this decision. Realme says there are a lot of 10W chargers around us and we don’t bother to use them. This move will allow the company to contribute toward a sustainable environment.

We have taken initiatives to focus on sustainability and are also attempting to achieve Double Zero targets like net-zero carbon emissions by 2025,” said Realme in a statement. The company has added the omission of the charger in the box doesn’t mean the phone is “anything less than ordinary.” It will be a step up in terms of chipset and screen. Customers will be able to purchase the chargers separately and other Realme and Narzo products will continue to offer charges in the box.
