Realme TV will launch later this year to take on Xiaomi’s Mi TV, company CMO confirms

“Realme CMO Xu Qi said that the company will definitely launch the Realme TV in 2020, and the smart TV will likely take on Xiaomi’s popular Mi TV”

Realme TV is set to launch in 2020. The company CMO Xu Qi has confirmed at the Realme X50 5G launch event in China yesterday that it’ll definitely launch its first TV later this year. To recall, 91mobiles had previously reported that the Realme TV would launch by the end of 2019, but it seems Realme will now release its smart TV in 2020. Much like in the smartphone segment, Realme’s upcoming TV will likely take on Xiaomi’s popular Mi TVs in the smart TV segment.

Apart from the TVs, Realme is also gearing up to launch more IoT devices in 2020. The brand’s founder Li Bingzhong said that Realme will launch more comprehensive IoT products around personal, family and travel scenarios. These will include audio products, wearable devices, TVs, and other devices. The company recently launched Realme Buds Air, its first true wireless earbuds in India.

Xu Qi, meanwhile, is aiming to meet the target of shipping more than 50 million smartphones in 2020 with a focus on 5G and AIoT. “This seems to be a very radical decision, but for Realme, this decision is not too difficult because Realme is very young, we can almost say that it is the lightest 5G player currently burdened.” Xu Qi said. He revealed that Realme will achieve full coverage of 5G this year and launch affordable 5G smartphones starting at RMB 1,500 (~Rs 16,500).

In related news, Realme is gearing up to launch its first-ever fitness smartwatch and/or smart band in India. The company will likely make an announcement related to its upcoming wearable on January 9th during the launch of the Realme 5i.
