Realme U1 new update turns fingerprint sensor into camera shutter button

“The new Realme U1 update brings some other camera improvements and a new reboot function to the smartphone”

Realme U1 users have been treated to a new update that brings the latest Android security patch and a number of new camera improvements to the handset. The update was already announced last week, but the OTA is now making its way to all Realme users. Realme CEO Madhav Sheth announced on his Twitter handle on Sunday that he had received the update along with some a screenshot of the OTA.

The latest version of ColorOS should arrive with the firmware version RMX1831EX_A.05 on U1 devices. If it hasn’t arrived yet, users can just head to settings and manually scan for the update. If it still doesn’t show up, it should arrive in the coming days.

Speaking about the changelog, Sheth’s post doesn’t show a lot but Realme’s forum update last week does have more detailed info. The camera will have a number of improvements including improved HDR for selfies, better portrait shots with more accurate skin colours, and some more miscellaneous fixes. New features include the addition of watermark and fingerprint gesture for clicking photos. The Realme U1 also regains the reboot function with the update and the January security patch along with critical bug fixes.

Realme has kept users well informed about latest software updates through its many official channels. All Realme phone should already be on Android Pie except for the Realme U1, which is Realme’s last product of 2018. However, it will also get the OS update by the end of January. While that’s a great thing, do note that ColorOS 6.0 will only arrive later this year. After the Realme U1, the entire portfolio of the OPPO offshoot will have received the Android Pie update.
