4 reasons to buy and 2 reasons to skip the Realme Narzo 70 Turbo

Realme Narzo 70 Turbo is the latest addition to the brand’s performance-focused Narzo lineup. The device comes with a fresh design and is an all-rounder to look out for in its range. With the festive season sales going on, it’s available at its best price, and we are sure quite a few are considering this device thanks to its chipset, display, fast charging and more.

Based on our review of the device, here are the four reasons to buy and two reasons to skip the Realme Narzo 70 Turbo.

4 reasons to buy the Realme Narzo 70 Turbo

Great design with IP65 rating

With the CMF Phone 1 entering the sub-20K segment with its modular design, unique or good-looking devices are no longer limited to the higher price segments. Realme Narzo 70 Turbo comes in three shades: Turbo Yellow, Turbo Purple and Turbo Green. The Yellow variant is said to be motorsport-inspired with its black stripes on the sides. It also features Realme’s new squircle camera bump design.

When it comes to the dimensions, the device is 7.6mm thin and weighs 185 grams. This translates to a better portability overall than CMF Phone 1, which is heavier and thicker. iQOO Z9s, on the other hand, is quite similar but has a premium curved display. What stands out is the IP65 water and dust resistance rating, something only the Realme Narzo 70 Turbo offers alongside a plethora of specs in this range.

Excellent 120Hz OLED display

Up on holding the Realme Narzo 70 Turbo, it becomes evident that Realme wants to give the best display experience to power users with a budget. The device features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (1,080 x 2,400p) resolution flat AMOLED panel with a high 120Hz refresh rate.

A typical brightness of 600 nits ensures decent performance indoors, and a 2,000 nits peak brightness allows for it to be ready for harsh sunlight environments. It is slightly more vibrant than its competitors and has a rainwater touch functionality.

Decent daylight cameras

Don’t let the camera bump fool you. The Realme Narzo 70 Turbo features a single primary camera at the back. This is a 50MP sensor (without OIS) with F/1.8 aperture and 27mm focal length. The device produces more social media-ready, vibrant pictures with less noise in darker areas.

In our comparison, the device delivered sharper and more detailed shots in daylight compared to the CMF Phone 1 and iQOO Z9s. The phone also features decent edge detection for portrait shots with a good colour balance. Realme Narzo 70 Turbo can record 4K 30FPS videos and features a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies.

Stellar performance

Realme Narzo 70 Turbo features the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy SoC. The device also comes in 6GB, 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device works smoothly in day-to-day tasks and outperforms its competitors in benchmark scores, such as Antutu, with a 7,26,000+ score.

When it comes to gaming, the device can impressively deliver 80FPS+ with GT mode turned on. There’s a vapour chamber present for cooling, but the device still gets quite hot after a long gaming session. You should not expect a lag in any of the things you will usually do with the Realme Narzo 70 Turbo.

2 reasons to skip the Realme Narzo 70 Turbo

A lot of pre-installed apps

Realme Narzo 70 Turbo features impressive hardware for its price tag. To achieve that price tag, Realme has clearly partnered up with brands to add their apps to the device. The device features a whopping 67 pre-installed apps. Fortunately, many of these apps can be uninstalled to help declutter the app drawer, but system-level bloatware like Hot Apps will persist.

Low light images could be better

While the 50MP primary camera does quite well in daylight, the phone cannot perform just as well in low-light situations. Thankfully, better colour reproduction and the ability to handle lens flares better compared to its competitors are saving graces for the device. Still, if you buy a Realme Narzo 70 Turbo, you should not expect a camera system like premium mid-range devices, and this model might not suit you.
