Realme Narzo 50 Pro had launched in India recently and is finally on sale via Amazon and Realme websites. The phone comes as a successor to the Realme Narzo 30 Pro and brings some notable improvements. For the first time in the Narzo series, we get a 90Hz AMOLED display which should greatly enhance the visual experience while gaming and even during media consumption as well. The phone also boots the latest Android 12 OS out of the box and packs a large 5000mAh battery.
The Realme Narzo 50 Pro has fairly good specifications for the price tag it carries. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean the phone doesn’t have any flaws based on our review. In this article, we will run you through four reasons why you should buy the Narzo 50 Pro and two reasons to not buy it.
4 reasons to buy Realme Narzo 50 Pro
Good design: The Realme Narzo 50 Pro’s design is familiar to most Realme phones in recent times and this isn’t a bad thing. It has a textured back panel that offers a good grip and is slightly curved to the edges so it doesn’t hurt your hands even after extended usage. The phone is made of a polycarbonate body so the weight balance is perfect as well.
The camera cutouts are slightly protruding above the back panel so it doesn’t sit on a flat surface without wobbling. The phone comes in Blue and Black colour options.
Performance: The Realme Narzo 50 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset. While the chipset may not be as powerful as the 7-series Snapdragon chipset, it is very capable in terms of CPU power and can offer a decent gaming experience as well. The phone has managed to offer a fluid experience in day to day tasks, loading apps, and switching between apps.
BGMI was able to achieve the Extreme (60fps) frame rate option when graphics were set at Smooth. There aren’t any throttling or frame drops during gaming. The chipset is aided with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There is no option to expand using a microSD card slot, more on that later.
Excellent battery life: The Realme Narzo 50 Pro packs a 5000mAh battery that is aided by a 33W fast charging. The battery life has been extremely good. We were able to run through an entire day without the need to charge again. It was able to produce up to 7 hours of screen-on time on a single charge. There were no discharging problems as well.
Great Display: The Realme Narzo 50 Pro ships with a 6.44-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 layer. This is the first time that a Narzo branded phone comes with an AMOLED panel and this surely is a big improvement and upgrade. AMOLED panel produces punchy colours with deep blacks and a vivid viewing experience.
The visuals are crisp, which should greatly enhance the gaming and content viewing experience on the phone. Realme displays have been consistently good and Narzo 50 Pro is no different.
2 Reasons to not buy the Realme Narzo 50 Pro
Bloatware: Like with most mid-range and even budget phones these days, the Narzo 50 Pro comes with a lot of bloatware applications. This will definitely damper the user experience even with daily use cases. While tech enthusiasts might know to uninstall these applications but we can’t expect the same from most users. Despite running on the latest Android 12 OS, the phone’s software experience is not very impressive.
No MicroSD card expansion: The Realme Narzo 50 Pro doesn’t come with a microSD card memory expansion support and this is a huge downgrade. This means you will be stuck with internal storage only, with no option for expandable storage.
You are better off buying the larger storage option so you will have no regrets in the future.
