4 reasons to buy and 3 reasons to skip the Realme 14T

Realme 14T launched in India last month as the first ‘T’ series part of the Realme 14 lineup. It’s a budget mid-range device priced under Rs 20,000. The Realme 14T has some standout features like a large 6,000mAh battery and dust and water resistance up to IP68.

We’ve reviewed the Realme 14T and tested the device on multiple benchmarks. Based on the results, here are four reasons to buy and three reasons to skip the Realme 14T.

Reasons to buy the Realme 14T

Sleek and durable design

The Realme 14T has a sleek design with the rear cameras and LED flash tucked inside together. The phone is lightweight and feels comfortable to hold. It also resists fingerprints and smudges well. Adding to this are the IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings making it durable enough to withstand dust, water, and high-pressure jets. So overall, you get a nice design, which is also quite durable.

Rich multimedia experience

The Realme 14T is a good choice if you’re looking for a phone for entertainment. The phone’s near-symmetrical bezels and display panel, which offers 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, add to the overall viewing experience. It’s also equipped with stereo speakers so you get a good multimedia setup with the Realme 14T.

Good heat resistance

The Realme 14T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, which is a chipset mostly seen in budget phones priced around Rs 10,000. The phone can still handle your regular tasks, and even intense games like COD: Mobile and BGMI. What stands out is its heat resistance as the Realme 14T registered an average increase of just 4.5 degrees Celsius after 30 minutes of gaming.

Decent battery life

The Realme 14T packs a 6,000mAh battery, which performed quite well in our tests. The battery dropped by 20 percent after more than two hours of heavy testing, including gaming and streaming. It supports 45W fast charging, and despite a large battery, the phone takes a little over an hour to fully charge to 100 percent.

Reasons to skip the Realme 14T

Performance could be better

The Realme 14T can be considered for gaming as explained above but it does have some performance drawbacks. According to our review, the phone can comfortably handle your basic tasks like browsing, chatting, and streaming. However, we did notice some delay when opening apps and occasional stuttering while heavy multitasking.

Average low-light photography

The Realme 14T isn’t a great choice for low-light photography. It struggled to capture decent shots even with night mode enabled. The phone tends to turn up the contrast and preserve the scene but the final result appears quite soft with blurry objects. That said, the Realme 14T takes detailed and vibrant shots with boosted colours in daylight. You also get decent selfies with this phone.

Pre-installed apps

Realme 14T runs the latest Android 15-based realme UI 6 out of the box. We found the interface mostly smooth but it does have its heavy share of preloaded apps and services. This can make the overall experience quite cluttered. But thankfully, you can delete these apps and also disable some features such as the Realme Glance, Hot Apps, and Hot Games.
