Reasons to buy the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
Excellent display
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra features a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels, dynamic refresh rate varying between 1Hz to 120Hz and a peak brightness of 2,600Hz. The screen, as per our testing, is a pure delight owing to its vibrant colour. What makes the entire package even better is that this time around, Samsung has thrown in Corning Gorilla Glass Armour 2 for protection and an anti-reflective coating, which reduces the glare without affecting the vibrancy of the screen.
Reliable battery
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra packs a 5,000mAh battery that is paired with a 45W charger. This battery easily lasts for a day on heavy usage. It showed a runtime of around 14 hours on our PCMark battery test and it takes around 44 minutes to go from 20 percent to 100 percent charge. While Samsung doesn’t ship a fast charger in the box that is akin to companies like Realme and iQOO, it is more than what companies like Apple and Google are shipping with their premium devices.
Snappy performance
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Samsung says that this chipset delivers a 37 percent improved CPU performance and a 30 percent improved GPU performance compared to last year’s Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone.
In usage, the Galaxy S25 Ultra handles everything that you throw at it with ease. Be it intense gaming or multi-tasking, it offers a consistent performance across use-cases.
Ample AI features
As mentioned before, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is loaded with features, which help it ace the AI game. It has Gemini Live as the default virtual assistant that can not only handle regular queries but also handle complex commands involving multiple apps. You also get features like Browsing Assist, which gives you highlights of a webpage, or Writing Assist, which is similar to Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools.
Besides these, you also get Transcript Assist for transcribing and summarising call recordings, Interpreter, which live transcribes speech in voice and text formats, and Audio Eraser, which can remove distracting sounds in a video. The list goes on and on and on.
Reasons to skip the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
S-Pen misses out on Air Actions
This time around, Samsung has removed support for Air Actions from the S-Pen — the tiny device that is reminiscent of the Note era. This means that Galaxy S25 Ultra users cannot use gestures for actions such as opening a recent app, going back to the home screen or opening Smart Select to capture a screenshot remotely. Users can also not use it to trigger the camera shutter remotely. This feature, however, is available to the Galaxy S24 users.
Incremental updates over the predecessor
Despite being a feature-rich device, the Galaxy S25 Ultra offers incremental upgrades over its predecessor. Sure, it is loaded with AI features and it has a more powerful processor, but there are a few aspects that haven’t changed a lot, like the battery or the cameras.
