Redmi recently teased a ‘Max’ smartphone for its Note series in India. It has now been revealed that this Redmi Note Max smartphone will feature a 10,000mAh battery. This more or less confirms that it’s the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max launching in India. Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is the first Redmi phone with a 10,000mAh battery, and it recently debuted in select international markets, including Japan.
Redmi Note 10,000mAh phone India launch
In a new X post, Redmi India shared a teaser confirming the upcoming Note series smartphone will offer a 10,000mAh battery. The teaser and microsite don’t reveal anything else about the phone, but we know that it’s part of the Redmi Note series and will carry the Max branding. Since the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max launched recently with a 10,000mAh battery, it’s most likely the same phone.
Redmi Note 17 Pro Max: what to expect
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max features a large 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, and a 3,200Hz touch sampling rate. Under the hood, it runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, paired with up to 512GB of storage. The chipset might be underwhelming for the segment. The Note 17 Pro Max also may not offer the same performance headroom as the Note 15 Pro+, its predecessor, which uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4.

The biggest highlight, however, is its battery. The phone packs a massive 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W charging, a significant jump over the 6,500mAh cell on the Note 15 Pro+, which also supports 100W charging. The Pro Max also gets 27W reverse charging, making its battery useful for topping up other devices.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has a 50MP OIS primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 32MP selfie camera. That is a notable downgrade on paper from the Note 15 Pro+, which features a 200MP OIS main camera. Redmi appears to be prioritising battery endurance over camera hardware with the Pro Max.
Overall, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max looks positioned as an endurance-focused upgrade, trading some camera and performance credentials for a much larger battery.
If the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max launches in India with the same hardware, its major offering would be the 10,000mAh battery. The phone, otherwise, should offer capable performance for everyday usage. If battery endurance and a good quality display are your priorities, then the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max could be worth waiting for. However, if cameras or performance are more important, then you might want to consider alternatives.
