Redmi 14C is the latest budget 5G smartphone in India and one of the cheapest starting at Rs 9,999. It’s an upgrade to what Xiaomi claims is the best-selling 5G phone in India, the Redmi 13C. With the new Redmi 14C 5G, the phone brings upgrades under the hood and also at a lower price.
We take a look at both phones to see how much of an upgrade the Redmi 14C 5G is over the Redmi 13C 5G.

Redmi 14C 5G not only has a lower starting price than the Redmi 13C 5G but it’s also cheaper for all variants. This is quite impressive since the Redmi 14C is a newer and improved model.
Redmi 14C 5G vs Redmi 13C 5G: design, display
Both phones have a flat frame and the dated notched display but there’s one major differentiator between the two. This is the rear camera design, which is a circular module on the Redmi 14C 5G. The Redmi 13C has a vertically aligned camera module. In terms of build, the Redmi 14C has an IP52 rating for dust and water resistance. While the Redmi 13C has splash and dust resistance, it doesn’t have an IP rating.
Display is another area of upgrade for the Redmi 14C with a larger display and higher refresh rate. This makes it a good choice for entertainment, gaming, and a smooth scrolling experience.

Redmi 14C 5G vs Redmi 13C 5G: processor, RAM and storage
The Redmi 14C 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Redmi 13C uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. We are yet to review the Redmi 14C so we can’t draw a comparison between the two phones.

Redmi 14C 5G vs Redmi 13C 5G: cameras
It looks like the Redmi 14C 5G’s camera department hasn’t received a major upgrade. You get a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary sensor at the back. For selfies, you get an 8MP selfie camera. The Redmi 13C 5G also has a 50MP primary camera and what seems to be an auxiliary lens. The selfie camera has been upgraded from a 5MP sensor on the Redmi 13C 5G.

The Redmi 14C 5G offers a slightly bigger battery over the 13C. Fast charging is still capped at 18W so there’s no upgrade here. The battery life performance on both phones should be close with the Redmi 14C 5G offering more juice.

The software experience would be quite different as the Redmi 14C 5G runs the newer Xiaomi HyperOS, while the Redmi 13C 5G has the older MIUI. Both phones will get two years of Android updates and four years of security patches.
