Redmi 64MP camera phone tipped to launch in August

“The Redmi 64MP camera phone could be powered by the recently announced MediaTek Helio G90T SoC”

The Redmi 64MP camera smartphone could debut as early as this month. This comes soon after Realme announced that it’ll be showcasing its 64MP camera tech at an event in India on August 8th. Prolific tipster Ice Universe in a thread on Twitter revealed that Xiaomi’s sub-brand will “also” release a handset with the latest camera tech in August. Redmi has been working on the 64MP phone for quite some time now. A few days ago, the company teased that the handset will boast 64MP quad-camera setup and a resolution far superior to that of an 8K TV.

In addition to this, the tipster said, Samsung has “restarted” work on its Galaxy A series smartphone with the 64MP. The tweet alludes that the chaebol had halted the work on the handset but is now back on track, with a September-October launch cycle. Previous reports suggest that the handset could be the Galaxy A70s smartphone.

While it has not been confirmed yet, all the three phones could employ Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GW1 64MP sensor. The sensor comes with pixel-merging Tetracell technology and a remosaic algorithm. It delivers 16MP images in low-light environments, with pixel binning technology to increase light. The sensor is also backed by real-time HDR of up to 100-decibels for more detailed colours. Unfortunately, nothing else has been revealed yet.

The Redmi 64MP camera phone, meanwhile, is said to have images bigger than 20MB in size. It could pack the recently launched MediaTek Helio G90T SoC as the chipset supports 64MP cameras. At the chipset’s launch event, Xiaomi had confirmed that it’ll be launching a Redmi phone with the Helio G90T mobile platform soon.
