Redmi 64MP camera phone may be unveiled on August 7th

“A leaked poster hints that instead of the Redmi 64MP camera phone, the event may see the camera technology be detailed”

Realme announced it will showcase the 64MP camera technology for smartphones on August 8th in India. Now, it looks like Redmi wants to be ahead of the race as a leaked poster suggests the company is holding an event on August 7th, a day before the Realme announcement. The poster, shared by Twitter user Mukul Sharma, showcases camera shutter design with a tagline that reads “Images of The Future”. There are Mi and Redmi logos at the top right corner. The poster hint that the event will show off the 64MP camera tech rather than launching the phone itself.

However, Ice Universe claimed the Redmi 64MP camera phone would launch sometime later this month, so we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt until the company makes an announcement on Wednesday. It’s possible Redmi could be using Samsung’s Bright GW1 64-megapixel sensor that features a 1/1.72-inch sensor which is touted to capture excellent photos in all lighting conditions. The tech is capable of capturing 16MP images in low-light conditions and 64MP in brighter settings. The sensor utilises pixel-merging Tetracell technology and remosaic algorithm.

On the other hand, the Realme event on August 8th will just be a demo and not a proper phone launch. It would also be using Samsung’s Bright GW1 sensor that can record full HD video recording at 480 frames-per-second for smooth cinematic slow-motion videos. The sensor offers ultra-fast autofocusing of the subject thanks to Samsung’s new Super PD technology.
