The announcement regarding the Redmi 6A open sales in India was made by Xiaomi via the official Redmi India Twitter handle. However, only the 2GB RAM + 32GB storage variant is up for grabs via open sales at the moment, while the 2GB RAM + 16GB option is still on flash sale model. It can expected that the latter will become more widely available in India soon. This move by Xiaomi comes soon after the company held its Mi Diwali Sale, where several smartphones were up for grabs in open sales.
Xiaomi Redmi 6A price in India is Rs 6,999 for the 32GB storage variant, while the 16GB option costs Rs 1,000 less. However, the prices could be raised if value of the rupee continues to drop against the dollar as it directly impacts the production and other associated costs. Buyers can choose between Black, Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold hues.
As for the specifications, Redmi 6A has a 5.45-inch display with HD+ resolution and runs MIUI custom skin based on Android Oreo. It packs the 2GHz quad-core MediaTek A22 SoC, paired with 2GB of RAM. As mentioned previously, storage options onboard are 16GB and 32GB, with provision for storage expansion via microSD cards. For photography, there’s a single 13-megapixel shooter on the rear, backed by LED flash, and a 5MP camera on the front for selfies and video calling.
For security, the handset relies solely on face unlock as there’s no fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include dual-SIM capability, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Lastly, the Redmi 6A battery capacity is 3,000mAh.
