“The Redmi 7’s leaked specifications have already revealed everything there’s to know about the upcoming budget smartphone”
After several leaks and speculations, Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch date of the Redmi 7 smartphone. The handset will be introduced on March 18th, alongside the launch of the Redmi Note 7 Pro in China. The confirmation comes from Xiaomi’s General Manager Lu Weibing who shared a teaser on Weibo that not only revealed the date, but the design of the budget smartphone as well.
Redmi 7: expected specifications
The Redmi 7 has recently passed TENAA, divulging its key details. Moreover, a number of detailed unboxings from Vietnamese YouTubers have also revealed a lot about the processor recently. As per that, the Redmi 7 will also be quite an upgrade over the Redmi 6 (review) as it will feature a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display, which we can expect to offer an HD+ resolution. The processor is strongly believed to be a Snapdragon 632 SoC with RAM and storage options starting from 2GB and 16GB and going all the way up to 4GB. Just like its predecessors, the phone is said to feature a 4,000mAh battery and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Sadly, details regarding fast charge support are not completely confirmed yet.
In terms of looks, the Redmi 7 seems to have a gradient glass back which would be a nice upgrade over the previous bland metal design that the Redmi series has offered so far. There’s a dual camera on the rear as well and a waterdrop notch occupies the front of the handset. The primary lens on the rear is a 12MP sensor, as revealed by TENAA. On the software side of things, we expect the Redmi 7 series to run Android Pie with MIUI 10 on first boot.
Redmi 7: expected price
Just like the previous smartphones in the Redmi series, the upcoming Redmi 7 is expected to be priced aggressively, starting at about $100 in China. We can surely expect the Redmi 7 to launch in India, though there’s no official confirmation on the same currently.
