Redmi 7 new teaser highlights 4,000mAh battery ahead of March 18th launch

“The Redmi 7 will be a budget offering with a 6.2-inch display, Snapdragon 632 processor, dual rear camera and a 4000mAh battery.”

Xiaomi Redmi 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro are due to launch on March 18th in China. The company revealed the launch date just a couple of days ago. However, the Redmi 7 series was in the news much longer than that. As we inch closer to the launch, Xiaomi started teasing key features of the device on Weibo; Chinese social media and this time it is the battery life. It is already known that the Redmi 7 is said to pack a 4000mAh battery, courtesy of several leaks.

Redmi 7As a part of the new promotional teaser, the brand confirmed that the Redmi 7 would indeed come with a 4000mAh battery that would leverage on the HD+ display to offer 15 days on SIM standby. In comparison, the Redmi 6 just had a 3000mAh battery. However, the Redmi 7 might not support fast charging speeds, as indicated by 3C certification in China. It will feature a 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD display and is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC which is a welcome change from MediaTek chipsets from last year. The RAM and storage options start from 2GB and 16GB and going all the way up to 4GB. It will have a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.

In terms of looks, the Redmi 7 seems to have a gradient glass back, which is a refreshing upgrade from the bland metal unibody designs. It does feature dual rear-cameras as well and a waterdrop notch to accompany the front-facing camera. The primary lens on the rear is a 12MP sensor, as revealed by TENAA. It is expected to run on MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie. As for the pricing, much like its predecessors, the Redmi 7 is also expected to be priced aggressively, starting at about $100 (Rs 7000 approx.) in China. Xiaomi would most-definitely launch the Redmi 7 series in India in the next few months.
