“The Redmi 7A will be the new entry-level smartphone, succeeding last year’s Redmi 6A smartphone”
Amidst upcoming Redmi flagship and mid-range smartphone reports, three new Xiaomi handsets have appeared on Chinese certification authority TENAA. The phones have been spotted with model numbers M1903C3EC, M1903C3EE, and M1903F11C on the Chinese certification site. While the actual identity of the handsets is not known at the moment, the listings of the M1903C3EC and M1903C3EE models include renders, so we do know what they will look like. Going by the design, they could be the variants of Xiaomi’s next-gen entry-level smartphone called Redmi 7A. As for the M1903F11C model, we know nothing except that it’s been certified and, thus, likely on the way.
As seen from the image, the Redmi 7A seems to have a polycarbonate body instead of the new-age glass sandwich design. The back panel has a single camera module with LED flash placed at the top right corner. The ‘AI Camera’ text is etched just below the camera, indicating the handsets will come with Xiaomi’s AI algorithms and machine learning to further enhance the images. The fascia of phones vaguely reveals front camera and earpiece up top. It isn’t clear if models have a notch-less or a notch-toting display, but we can tell you for sure that they will have a chin with ‘Redmi’ branding on it.
There’s no fingerprint sensor whatsoever, meaning that Redmi 7A will have to rely on a pin or password for security considering it is budget device. Xiaomi may include software-backed face unlock feature on the handset. The phones have volume and power buttons on the right and sim-tray on the left spine.
The specifications of the handsets remain a mystery at the moment. But with Redmi 7A in the works, we can expect a few more leaks before the product is officially announced. The handset will be a budget offering from Xiaomi, likely to be priced around Rs 7,000. The phone will come as a successor to last year’s Redmi 6A smartphone, which ships with 5.45-inch display, MediaTek Helio A22 chipset, and 13-megapixel primary camera. We expect the Redmi 7A to have a more powerful chipset and better cameras.
