Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has launched its budget-friendly Redmi 9 Prime smartphone in India. The smartphone comes with a design and specifications similar to the Redmi 9 global variant, which was launched in Spain back in June. The Redmi 9 Prime touts a full-HD+ screen, quad rear cameras, and a beefy 5,020mAh battery with fast charging support. The handset is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G80 chipset and sports a dedicated fingerprint scanner for security. The Redmi 9 Prime price in India falls under Rs 10,000 to take on the likes of Realme Narzo 10A and Samsung Galaxy M01.

Redmi 9 Prime price in India and Amazon sale date

Realme 9 Prime India price starts at Rs 9,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There is also a 4GB + 128GB storage option that is priced at Rs 11,999. The smartphones will come in Space Blue, Mint Green, Sunrise Flare, and Matt Black colour options. The first sale of the Redmi 9 Prime will be on Amazon during the Prime Day sale and on Mi.com on August 6th.

As far as the specifications of Redmi 9 Prime go, the handset packs a 6.53-inch full-HD+ display (1,080 x 2,340 pixels) with waterdrop notch atop, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 400nits brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer. The phone has MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core chipset clocked at 2GHz paired with Mali-G52 GPU, 4GB RAM, and up to 128GB internal storage. The phone supports storage expansion via a microSD card slot (up to 512GB).

Around the back, the Redmi 9 Prime sports vertically-aligned quad camera setup that bears 13MP (f/2.2) primary sensor, 8MP secondary (f/2.2) ultra wide-angle lens, 5MP (f/2.4) macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The handset supports 1080p video recording at 30fps, Kaleidoscope video, Palm Shutter and Portrait Mode, among others. The front camera of the phone features an 8MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture and 77.8-degree field of view. The phone houses a large 5,020mAh battery with 18W Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support. However, you only get a 10W charger in the box.

The dual-SIM Redmi 9 Prime supports AI Face Unlock alongside a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also comes with P2i coating for splash resistance. Connectivity options on the Redmi 9 Prime include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi Direct, FM Radio, NFC, GPS, AGPS, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, and IR blaster. The smartphone runs on Android 10 with MIUI on top that includes features like Reading Mode 2.0 and Dark Mode.
