Hours after launching the Redmi 9 budget phone in India, details regarding another Redmi 9-series phone, the Redmi 9i, have surfaced online. As per a report by Pricebaba, the Redmi 9i will launch in India soon and it will come in two models – 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB. The phone will reportedly be available in Sea Blue, Nature Green, and Midnight Black colour options. Considering that Xiaomi has rebranded the Redmi 9 as Redmi 9 Prime and Redmi 9C as Redmi 9 India variant, there’s a possibility that the upcoming Redmi 9i will be a rebranded Redmi 9A, which was launched in Malaysia in June.
Redmi 9i specifications
If the Redmi 9i is indeed a rebrand of Redmi 9A, we can assume the following specifications. The handset may come with a 6.53-inch HD+ display with 1600 X 720 pixels resolution and a waterdrop notch up top. It could be powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage that is further expandable via microSD card. It should run on Android 10-based MIUI 12 on top.
Moving to optics, the Redmi 9i may offer a 13MP single camera accompanied by an LED flash. On the front, it could sport a 5MP snapper for selfies and video chats. The Redmi 9i may not come with a fingerprint sensor. The handset could house a 5,000mAh battery with standard charging support. Redmi 9A is priced at RM 359 (approx Rs 6,300) in Malaysia and we expect to see a similar entry-level price when it launches in India as the Redmi 9i.
