Redmi 9i was launched in India on Tuesday as the seventh smartphone in the Redmi 9 series. The newest addition joins the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9, Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9, and Redmi 9A smartphones. The new Redmi 9i slots between the entry-level Redmi 9A and the Redmi 9, ensuring customers have multiple Xiaomi phones in the sub-Rs 10,000 segment. The budget smartphone touts a waterdrop display, 4GB RAM, 5,000mAh battery, and a gaming-centric MediaTek Helio G25 chipset, among other things. Redmi 9i price in India and first sale date

Redmi 9i India price is set at Rs 8,299 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The 4GB + 128GB options is priced at Rs 9,299. The first sale of the Redmi 9i will be on September 18th at 12 PM through Flipkart, Mi.com, Mi Home Stores, and offline retail partners. The smartphone will be available in Midnight Black, Nature Green, and Sea Blue colour options.

Redmi 9i specifications

Redmi 9i sports a 6.53-inch HD+ (720×1600) Dot Drop display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and TUV Rheinland certification. The smartphone comes with an Aura 360 design with a textured unibody back to reduce smudges and fingerprints. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. The handset features a triple card slot that can hold two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card (up to 512GB).

Redmi 9i houses a 5,000mAh battery to offer a long-lasting battery life. The brand claims the Redmi 9i comes with an Enhanced Lifespan Battery that promises three years of battery lifespan. The smartphone runs on Android 10-based MIUI 12 out of the box with system-wide dark mode. The Redmi 9i is equipped with a 13MP AI rear camera and a 5MP front camera with support for AI portrait selfie. There is no fingerprint sensor on the phone, but you will be able to unlock the device using face unlock. 

As you can tell from the specifications, the Redmi 9i is essentially the Redmi 9A but with more RAM and storage for a better performance and multitasking experience.
