Redmi is preparing to launch the Redmi K Pad table and Redmi K80 Ultra smartphone in China soon. While the Redmi K80 Ultra specifications have been leaked in detail, the company has officially shared some features and specifications of the Redmi K Pad on its Weibo handle. During its first-ever unveiling, Redmi confirmed that the K Pad is a flagship mini-sized tablet and will rivals the likes of the iPad mini. That said, let’s take a look at the revealed details.
Redmi K Pad design and colours
- The Redmi K Pad will feature an elegant back texture and come with an all-metal unibody design. The width of the tablet has been limited for one-handed usage, despite it packing a larger display than the latest iPad mini.
- With such emphasis on build and design, the company has termed the K Pad as a “luxury performance tablet“.
- It also features thinner display bezels than the iPad mini.
- The Redm K Pad is compact enough to fit in jeans pockets and handbags.
- The tablet will be available in colour options of deep black, haze purple, and spruce green.
Redmi K Pad specification details
- Display: The Redmi K Pad will pack an 8.8-inch 3K LCD display with a 403ppi pixel density and 165Hz refresh rate support. Just like the Redmi K80 Ultra, the tablet gets the Qingshan Eye Protection feature.
- Processor: Running at the core of the tablet is the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+, the chipmaker’s most powerful mobile chipset yet. A device with this particular processor is yet to launch in India. A 12,050mm² vapour chamber will assist the processor to cool things down while running intensive tasks.
- Software: Just like the Redmi K80 Ultra, the K Pad may run on Android 15-based HyperOS skin out of the box.
- Speakers: For audio, the device packs symmetrical dual speakers for an immersive sound experience. The speakers can output a loudness of 80.2dB.
- Haptics: The K Pad gets a dual X-axis linear haptic motor. The Redmi K80 Ultra, on the other hand, is said to feature the biggest haptic motor on an Android phone.
- USB-C ports: Interestingly, the Redmi K Pad will feature two USB-C ports, one at the bottom and another on the left side of the frame. This would be a godsend for gamers as they can plug in the charging cable in the left port, allowing them to engage in horizontal orientation games without the obstruction of the cable.
- Battery: The tablet is equipped with a 7,500mAh battery, which is 44 percent larger than the latest generation iPad mini. Charging support hasn’t been revealed yet, but we assume the device will come with a charger in the box.
In other news, Xiaomi recently released the Redmi Pad 2, a budget tablet featuring an 11-inch display and the MediaTek Helio G100-Ultra starting at Rs 13,999. As for Redmi K Pad’s India release, the chances of it launching here are slim, as the brand generally brings its upper-range tablets through the Xiaomi Pad series, such as the Pad 7 (review).
