New Redmi K-series smartphone in the works

According to a new leak from a popular tipster that goes by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Redmi is working on a new Redmi K-series smartphone. The tipster hints that this upcoming smartphone is an affordable version of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition.

The leak claims that the upcoming Redmi K-series smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 SoC as opposed to the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset in the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition. As the name suggests, the Dimensity 1100 is a less powerful version of the Dimensity 1200. The major difference between both the chipsets is that the Dimensity 1100 misses out on a prime CPU core that we see with the Dimensity 1200.

The tipster has also shed light on the other specifications of the upcoming Redmi K series smartphone. According to the post, the smartphone will have a display with full-HD+ resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) and a center-mounted punch-hole, a 64MP primary camera at the rear, a 5,000mAh battery, and a 67W charging speed. The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition has a similar feature set as well, which suggests that the upcoming Redmi K series smartphone could indeed be an affordable version of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition.

While the other specifications of the upcoming Redmi K series smartphones are unknown at the moment, you can expect them to be similar to that of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition. Currently, there is no information regarding the marketing name of this upcoming Redmi K series smartphone. However, it is possible that the phone might debut as “Redmi K40 Gaming Lite.”
