Redmi K100 is confirmed to launch in China on October 27th, following multiple leaks and rumours. Like its older siblings, the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max, the Redmi K100 is also aimed at gamers and users who prioritise endurance. The handset is tipped to pack a massive 10,000mAh battery, one of the largest in the segment.
Redmi has also shown off the K100 in a new ‘Fluorescent Green’ colour option, which looks quite like the K100 Pro but without the glow-in-the-dark design. Otherwise, the design is similar, with a large camera module, a metal frame, and flat edges. The smartphone will also come with Bose audio.
Ahead of the launch, Redmi has confirmed key specifications of the K100. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which was launched in October, 2024. Although almost two years old, it’s still a powerful processor for heavy-duty use. The Redmi K100 is also the first to feature the D2 dedicated gaming graphics card, which reduces average power by 1.1W in Honor of Kings with ultra-high graphics at 144fps.
The smartphone also features a large 6.83-inch display with a 165Hz refresh rate. The brand claims that the phone natively supports 165fps in over 40 games. It also supports over 100 games with frame interpolation for uninterrupted gameplay. This means that the Redmi K100 has been designed with gaming in mind, despite not using the latest flagship chipset. Also, with the rumoured 10,000mAh battery, the Redmi K100 will be able to deliver enough juice for long gaming sessions.
The Redmi K100 is clearly aimed at gamers, so if you’re someone who’s heavily into gaming, especially the graphics-intensive titles, this phone could be worth waiting for. The Redmi K100 also makes sense for people who want multi-day usage in terms of battery life.
