Google’s Android 10 stable build officially started rolling out to Pixel and Essential phones earlier this month. The next-gen Android OS brings the much-awaited dark mode, revamped permission settings, and more. Redmi K20 Pro also receiving the latest MIUI 10 update based on Android 10 but is limited to beta testers currently. Now, it seems Xiaomi is also prepping to roll out the update to its younger sibling, the Redmi K20 (or the Mi 9T), in October, according to a report by AusDroid. While the exact timeline isn’t revealed, this is a good start for Redmi as a standalone brand.
The Android 10 update brings new gesture navigation that is similar to iOS gestures, new chat bubbles, and privacy and security-focused revamped permissions. Digital Wellbeing gets a new Focus mode that restricts pre-selected apps from distracting and Family Link allows parents to set limits. Android 10 also brings simpler notification controls along with Smart Reply. It also brings customisation in the form of accent colours, fonts, and icon shapes.
Redmi K20 specifications
As for the Redmi K20, it sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display with 1,080 x 2,340 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.9 percent. It is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 730 SoC and is available in two RAM and storage configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB and 6GB RAM + 128GB. The handset runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box. In terms of optics, the Redmi K20 flaunts triple rear cameras consisting of a 48MP primary snapper, a 13MP secondary shooter, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. For selfies, there is a 20MP elevating camera. A 4,000mAh battery fuels the phone.
