“The Redmi K20 will also come with a seventh-generation in-display fingerprint sensor, as per the banner”
Xiaomi’s Redmi brand confirmed its upcoming K20 smartphone would be unveiled on May 28th at an event in China. The Redmi K20 has been teased quite a lot in the past few days, including the Hi-Res Audio, Game Turbo 2.0, DC Dimming, and more. We even came across the promotional renders of the phone, showcasing the design in its full glory. Now, ahead of the launch, the Redmi K20 price has been tipped courtesy a retail store in China. According to the promotional banner, the handset will cost RMB 2,599 (around Rs 26,200), presumably for the base variant. We will have to wait for the launch event to find out prices of the remaining variants. The banner also mentions the smartphone will feature a seventh-generation in-display fingerprint sensor.
Going by the earlier leak, the standard Redmi K20 would come in two variants, one with Snapdragon 855 SoC that has been confirmed and the other with Snapdragon 710 processor. Both the variants are expected to pack a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,340 pixels resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 layer, and screen-to-body ratio of 91.2 percent. They are likely to run Android 9.0 Pie based on MIUI 10 and feature an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric security. The upcoming flagship could be available in Flame Red, Glacier Blue, and Carbon Fibre Black colour options.
Update: Another image showing the Redmi K20 Pro prices for all three variants has appeared online. It shows the RMB 2,599 price tag is for the variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants of the smartphone have been listed with RMB 2,799 (roughly Rs 28,250) and RMB 2,999 (about Rs 30,250) price tags, respectively. However, considering the image shows the price of the base variant as RMB 2,599, Xiaomi could call the handset with Snapdragon 855 SoC Redmi K20 Pro, while the rumoured Snapdragon 710 variant may be called Redmi K20.
Furthermore, the leaked Redmi K20 specifications suggest that the smartphone would feature triple rear cameras consisting a 48MP f/1.8 primary sensor, accompanied by a 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide shooter, and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto snapper. For selfies, it is said to offer a 20MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0. The phones will be offered in multiple RAM and storage configurations – 6GB RAM + 64GB, 6GB RAM + 128GB, 8GB RAM + 128GB, and 8GB RAM + 256GB. It will reportedly pack 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0+ through USB Type-C port and have a 3.5mm audio jack. Since we’re just a few days away for the launch, we won’t have to wait long for the details.
