“Redmi K30 5G is set to release in China on January 7th, and its retail box has revealed a simplistic packaging.”
Redmi K30 5G is set to go on sale in China on January 7th, close to a month after being launched officially. Now, a new post by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has revealed the official retail packaging and box of the smartphone, ahead of the official release of the device in China next week. The box has the smartphone’s name, Redmi K30, lettered in bold and in shifting gradient colours, set against the white backdrop of the retail box. To differentiate it from the standard, 4G variant, the ‘5G’ moniker is placed at the bottom right, and the side panel of the box also houses the full name, ‘Redmi K30 5G’. Xiaomi’s logo is placed at the top right corner as well.
Redmi K30 5G specifications
Redmi K30 5G is a fairly well configured smartphone that sits towards the premium end of the mid-range price bracket. In terms of specifications, the Redmi K30 5G comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chipset with dual-mode 5G support via the optional Snapdragon modem. In terms of RAM and storage, the Redmi K30 5G is being offered in four variants — 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. While these four are confirmed, Xiaomi is also said to be preparing a 10GB RAM variant of the smartphone as well, details of which have been spotted for the first time on a TENAA certification entry.
Other specifications of the device include a 6.67-inch full HD+ display, a 4,500mAh battery pack with 30W fast charging, and an elongated cutout on the display with 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel front camera setup. To the rear, the Redmi K30 5G features a quad camera layout, featuring a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 image sensor in the primary module, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle unit, a 5-megapixel macro photography unit, and a 2-megapixel depth assisting unit. It is interesting to note that despite the four camera rear imaging setup, there is no optical telephoto zoom range included. The smartphone runs on Android 10 out of the box, with MIUI 11 custom interface on top.
The Redmi K30 5G is a part of a contentious lineup that saw its predecessor face a lot of flak in India because of its pricing. In China, the Redmi K30 5G costs CNY 1,999 (~Rs 20,500) for the base, 6GB + 64GB configuration, going all the way up to CNY 2,899 (~Rs 30,000) for the top-end, 8GB + 256GB variant. Given that Xiaomi is seen as a budget and mid-range player in India, it now remains to be seen how Xiaomi positions the Redmi K30 lineup in India, and the price range that it chooses for the lineup. With no 5G rollout in India so far, we expect to see the Redmi K30 4G version to launch in India soon.
