“Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, Oppo and Nokia are confirmed to be working on phones powered by the newly launched Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765 SoCs”
Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 865 flagship SoC and mid-range Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G chips with integrated 5G modems at the Qualcomm annual summit. The Snapdragon 865 chipset will power most flagship Android phones in 2020, while the Snapdragon 765 SoCs will bring 5G connectivity to mid-range smartphones. During the announcement, companies like Xiaomi, HMD Global, OPPO and more took to the stage to announce upcoming smartphones that will be powered by these new processors such as the Redmi K30, Mi 10 and Oppo Reno 3 Pro.
Xiaomi Mi 10 with Snapdragon 865
Xiaomi Mi 10 will be one of the first smartphones to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC. It is expected to launch in Q1 2020, probably at MWC 2020. Mi 10 is also tipped to come with a waterfall display, 108MP triple rear cameras and a pop-up selfie camera. It is likely to run on Android 10 with MIUI 11 on top. The company co-founder Lin Bin also confirmed the existence of the Mi 10 Pro recently.
Redmi K30 with Snapdragon 765G
Xiaomi has confirmed the Redmi K30 will be the first smartphone to launch with a Snapdragon 765G chipset. The smartphone is scheduled to launch in China in a few days on December 10th. The handset is tipped to sport a 6.6-inch display with a punch-hole to house dual-selfie snappers and a 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of optics, the Redmi K30 will feature a quad-rear camera setup with a 60MP primary rear sensor, an 8MP telephoto sensor, a 13MP wide-angle lens, and a 2MP depth or macro sensor. The Redmi K30 is also said to house a 5,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support.
OPPO Reno 3 Pro with Snapdragon 765
OPPO Reno 3 Pro 5G will also be powered by the Snapdragon 765 chipset. OPPO VP Brian Shen recently teased the design of the smartphone and confirmed that it will be the slimmest dual-mode 5G phone in its price segment with a thickness of 7.7mm. OPPO Reno 3 Pro will sport a notchless display and house a battery of 4,025mAh. The smartphone is expected to launch in China sometime this month. Separately, OPPO has also announced that it’ll be launching a flagship smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip early next year. However, the brand hasn’t revealed more details about the flagship just yet.
HMD Global — the licensee of Nokia’s brand name, has announced its plans to launch a smartphone with the Snapdragon 765 processor early next year. Juho Sarvikas. Chief Product Officer, said the upcoming Nokia 5G phone would use PureDisplay with HDR10 support and ZEISS imaging. He also mentioned the handset would have the ability to record 4K videos with the ultra-wide-angle camera. The forthcoming Nokia phone will offer 5G support across the globe. As of now there is no word on what this Nokia phone will be called, but it could launch during the MWC 2020 show.
Realme is also confirmed to launch a smartphone with a Snapdragon 765 SoC. The company recently teased the launch of the Realme X50 5G, which will arrive with a dual-punch hole display and dual-mode 5G support. This smartphone will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 765 processor. Other leaked Realme X50 specifications include a 6.44-inch full HD+ sAMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 60MP quad-camera setup, a 32MP dual selfie camera setup, and a 4,500mAh battery with Super VOOC 4.0 fast charging support.
Apart from the brands mentioned above, BlackShark, Coolpad, iQOO, Lenovo, Meizu, nubia RedMagic, OnePlus, Smartisan, TCL, Vivo, Wingtech, ZTE, and 8848 also have plans to launch phones with the latest Snapdragon chipsets in 2020.
