Previously, the vanilla Redmi K40 and the Realme GT Neo 2, also offered similar specifications, with Snapdragon 870 processor, and other striking similarities. The Realme GT Neo 2 is still a new device, having launched in China in late September and only now arriving in India, but the Redmi K40 has been around for a little longer, having been released in March and rebranded as the Xiaomi Poco F3 in Europe and Xiaomi Mi 11X in India.

MediaTek Dimensity 8000 chipset details (expected)

The Dimensity 8000 is yet to be unveiled, but MediaTek has teased it this week, as a more inexpensive alternative to the already-released Dimensity 9000 flagship. The chipset is expected to come with a 5nm fabrication process, unlike the 4nm one on the Dimensity 9000 with four Cortex-A78 (2.75 GHz) cores and four A55 (2.0 GHz) CPU cores. The chipset is also expected to come with  Mali-G510 MC6 GPU and should be 22 percent faster than the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. The MediaTek Dimenisty 8000 processor will also come with QHD+ display support, with support for up to 165Hz refresh rate as well. The chipset is also expected to support LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

MediaTek recently with its Dimenisty processors is giving tough competition to chipset giant, Qualcomm with its launches in the past year. According to the current Counterpoint study for smartphone chipset shipments from July to September 2021, MediaTek has a 40 percent total market share, while Qualcomm has just a 27 percent market share. With their cost-effective offerings, MediaTek’s market share is expected to grow more in the coming months, with more smartphones expected to launch housing their chipsets.
