Redmi Note 10S, the latest mid-range offering from Redmi, was launched earlier this week, promising to deliver great performance and hardware at an affordable price tag. It gets an AMOLED display, a big battery, and a powerful mid-range CPU. The Redmi Note 10S is a slightly more advanced variant of the Redmi Note 10, and the only difference is that the S variant has a MediaTek CPU and 64MP primary rear camera. After the launch of the Redmi Note 10S, Realme reduced the price of its Realme 8 phone, making it an excellent alternative. Therefore, we decided to compare the Redmi Note 10S and Realme 8 prices in India, specifications and features to help you decide which phone is right for you.

Redmi Note 10S vs Realme 8 specifications, design, features

Coming to the design, the Redmi Note 10S gets a plain rear panel and a camera module that’s similar to the Mi 11 lineup from Xiaomi. There’s not a lot of difference in design between the Redmi Note 10 and Note 10S. The phone gets a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a punch-hole cutout display with the front camera located in the top-centre. As for the display, the phone comes with a 6.43-inch AMOLED display that offers FHD+ resolution and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Meanwhile, the Realme 8 has a slightly flashier design, with large branding on the back. It also houses an under-display fingerprint scanner and features a punch-hole display. The front camera is placed inside a cutout that’s located on the top left corner. The phone also features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, also with a 60Hz refresh rate.

Realme 8 has a better design than its Redmi rival

Therefore, in the design and display department, both phones offer similar features. The Realme 8 could be a better buy if you’re into under-display fingerprint technology.

Again, both phones are almost equally matched in the hardware department. Both smartphones are powered by the MediaTek Helio G95 SoC. The chipset in the phones are coupled with a maximum RAM of 8GB and storage of 128GB. In terms of batteries, both devices get a 5,000mAh cell, but the Redmi Note 10S offers a slightly faster charging speed of 33W compared to 30W on the Realme 8.

As for cameras, once again, both phones come with a 64MP primary sensor and a quad-camera setup at the back. The other sensors include an 8MP ultrawide unit and dual 2MP sensors. On the Redmi Note 10S, the dual 2-megapixel sensors are used for depth and macro effects, whereas on the Realme 8, one of them is a monochrome sensor and the other a macro lens.

Both the phones are evenly matched on the camera front, at least on paper

For selfies, the Redmi Note 10S has a 13MP camera, and the Realme 8 has a slightly better 16MP sensor.

Both devices also run on the Android 11 OS with their own custom UI on top. As you can see, there’s only a marginal difference between the two when it comes to hardware and performance.

However, neither model supports 5G, though you can get the Realme 8 5G variant for a lower starting point in India, i.e. at Rs 13,999.

Redmi Note 10S vs Realme 8 conclusion

In conclusion, we’d like to point out that there’s really no benefit in choosing one over the other. Both the Redmi Note 10S and the Realme 8 are evenly matched in hardware and performance, making either of them a great deal. You will save Rs 500 on the Realme 8 if you buy one now, and that’s the only benefit really.
