As we get closer to the end of 2022, smartphone OEMs are back to unveiling new phones that will set the stage for 2023. In a span of 15 days, both Xiaomi and Realme have unveiled their new lineup on Redmi Note and Realme numbered series globally. Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 12 series in China last month, while Realme launched its Realme 10 series in Indonesia.

The Redmi Note 12 series includes Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro+, and Redmi Note 12 YIBO EDITION. Meanwhile, Realme has unveiled Realme 10 4G as their first phone under this series. The Realme 10 Pro series is set to launch in China later today i.e. Thursday, November 17th. The brand has also confirmed that the Realme 10 Pro series will launch in India soon. Redmi Note 12 5G comes in four variants, 4GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB, with retail prices of CNY 1,199, CNY 1,299, CNY 1,499, CNY 1,699, respectively. Meanwhile, the new Realme 10 4G starts at $229 for the 4GB+64GB, $249 for the 4GB+128GB, $269 for the 6GB+128GB, $279 for the 8GB+128GB, and $299 for the 8GB+256GB version. In India, these phones are expected to come priced under Rs 20,000.

Redmi Note 12 5G vs Realme 10 4G: specifications, features


The Redmi Note 12 5G sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1200nits peak brightness, and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter. On the other hand, Realme 10 4G features a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a Super AMOLED panel and offers up to 90Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. It also comes with a left-aligned punch-hole camera cutout on display.


In terms of chipset, the Redmi Note 12 5G comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 5G SoC paired with Adreno GPU. It runs on Android 12-based MIUI 13 custom skin out of the box. Meanwhile, the Realme 10 4G is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, which is a refreshed version of the Helio G96 chipset based on TSMC’s 6nm fabrication process. The phones run on Android 12-based Realme UI 3.0 custom skin out of the box.


The Redmi Note 12 5G has a dual camera setup on the back, with a 48MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. There is an 8MP sensor on the front for selfies and video chats. And the Realme 10 4G also comes equipped with a dual camera setup, but it offers a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. You will find a 16MP sensor for selfies.
