Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1080: why you should be excited for SuperNotes

Since its inception, the Redmi Note series has shaken up the Indian smartphone market. And the brand is aiming to take that to the next level with its upcoming launches as well. It’s aiming to kickstart 2023 on a high ‘note’ (quite literally) with a trio of devices in the Redmi Note 12 range. In this piece, we’ll focus on the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+, both of which boast a powerful spec sheet including MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoCs, high-res cameras, display panels with high refresh rates, and more. Here’s why we are excited about the Redmi Note 12 Pro duo, and so should you…

Immense power in your hands

With an octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.6GHz, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 can handle anything thrown at it without breaking a sweat. But the chipset isn’t just about extreme power, as it comes with two Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2GHz to offer battery efficiency as well. This means, that the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Note 12 Pro+ will ensure that you get a lag-free experience whether you are running mundane tasks or heavy apps and games. Multi-tasking is seamless too, all thanks to up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM. For storage, the Redmi Note 12 Pro is available with either 128GB or 256GB memory onboard, whereas the Note 12 Pro+ ships with 256 gigs of built-in memory.

Graphics are handled by ARM Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. Pair that with MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 gaming technologies, and gamers would lose the track of time while playing their favourite titles.

High-res cameras promise a sharp output

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is tailor-made for shutterbugs as it takes advantage of support for a 200MP sensor with the Dimensity 1080 SoC. Not only it comes with a high-resolution camera, but it’s also the first handset in India with the all-new Samsung HPX sensor. With an f/1.65 aperture, the primary shooter ensures great images and videos in low light too. The Redmi Note 12 Pro on the other hand, ships with a flagship 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor. Both smartphones offer PDAF for locking focus quickly on the subject, along with having OIS to ensure smooth footage. Speaking of videos, the duo can shoot up to 4K videos at 30fps, and slow-mo videos can be recorded at 720p at 960fps.

The primary camera on the Redmi Note 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ is accompanied by an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide snapper and a 2MP f/2.4 macro sensor. For selfies, the devices flaunt a 16-meg shooter at the front.

Immersive visuals

What makes Redmi Note live up to its name is the large screen real estate… and that’s what you get with the Redmi Note 12 Pro duo. Both handsets are adorned with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a full HD+ resolution. With a refresh rate of 120Hz, you’ll get a smooth response whether you are navigating the interface or playing compatible games. With adaptive sync, the phones make sure that you enjoy a high refresh rate to match the compatible frame rate of the content, and the battery is conserved when normal apps are running. You’ll also get realistic visuals with the support of 1.07billion colours. The devices also promise an immersive experience while watching movies as they come with support for both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

While we are talking about visuals, audio plays an equally important role in delivering an immersive multimedia experience. The Redmi Note 12 Pro and Note 12 Pro+ come with Dolby Atmos support. Furthermore, you get rich and loud output with dual stereo speakers and Hi-Res Audio Certification in wired and wireless modes.

Lasts long, and juices up quickly

The Redmi Note 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ draw power from a massive 5,000mAh and 4,980mAh battery, respectively. Couple that with the power-efficient MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip, and you wouldn’t need to fuel them before the end of the day, or perhaps the next morning.

When you do need to juice them up, fast charging technology will come in handy. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ is the first handset in the Redmi series to feature 120W HyperCharge tech, which means it’s claimed to go to 100 percent in 19 minutes. The Redmi Note 12 Pro also promises fast charging speeds with the bundled 67W adapter.

Attractive looks, durable build

Redmi has ensured that the Redmi Note 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ are a complete package. The devices draw your attention with the back panel, available in a glossy and matte finish with a multitude of exciting colour options such as Stardust purple. With an aluminum rail running along the sides, they have a solid build quality. The display also gets a protective coating of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 against scratches. The duo is dust- and splash-resistant too, thanks to the IP53 certification. With the power button doubling up as a fingerprint sensor, the authentication is quick too.

We’ve just scratched the surface as to why the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ can be game changers. We now just need to wait till Jan 5th to know more about their price and availability. What we do know however, is that they will carry forward the legacy of the Note series with enticing prices. The Redmi Note 12 Pro price in India is expected to be around Rs 25,000, whereas the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ will be priced at around Rs 30,000.
