Redmi Note 7 will get Mi MIX 3’s Super Night Scene feature via software update

“Night Scene feature headed to Redmi Note 7 first debuted on the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 last year”

Redmi Note 7 looks set to receive Xiaomi’s Super Night Scene camera mode that turns bright low-light images into bright looking pictures. This was confirmed by Xiaomi via the official MIUI Weibo account in a reply to an enthusiastic Mi MIX 2s user expressing their joy after using the Super Night Scene feature. The account confirmed the Redmi Note 7 will be getting the Super Night Scene mode via a software update. However, there is no timeline provided for the rollout.

Super Night Scene is software feature that first debuted on the Mi MIX 3 and was later rolled out for Mi 8 Pro and MIX 2s. When a user click a picture using Super Night Scene mode, the camera captures several photos of the scene at different exposures and combines them into a single picture that is brighter and contains much less noise. The camera achieves this by combining 8 different technologies including HDR, AIS, 4-axis OIS, and multi-frame noise reduction.

Redmi Note 7 is the brand’s first smartphone after splitting from Xiaomi and becoming an independent brand. It launched in China last week for a starting price of RMB 999 (Rs 10,000 approx.). There is no word regarding the Redmi Note 7 India launch yet, but we can expect teasers to hit the country over the next few weeks.

The Redmi Note 7 is powered by the mid-range Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB expandable storage. Display duties are handled by a 6.3-inch screen with full-HD+ resolution and waterdrop notch. There’s a 4,000mAh battery on board, which supports fast charging along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type C port. In terms of optics, primary camera utilises a Samsung GM1 48-megapixel sensor along with a 5-megapixel depth-sensing lens and LED flash; on the front it has a 13-megapixel sensor for selfies.
