“The Redmi Note 7 has watertight seals around its ports and buttons to protect it from internal liquid damage as well as to prevent dust from entering the device”
The Redmi Note 7 was launched in China last week and is the first smartphone since the Redmi brand has been spun off as a standalone unit. While it is the most affordable handset with a 48-megapixel camera, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has now revealed that it also features watertight seals on its ports and buttons to prevent water damage. Although this is an important feature worth to be mentioned, Jun said that they kind of missed it at the official launch ceremony.
Lei Jun confirmed on Weibo that the Redmi Note 7 comes with watertight seals to protect the itself from liquid damage. Jun also confirmed that the smartphone has the aforementioned seals around the USB Type C-port, SIM card slot, 3.5mm audio jack and the loudspeaker. This protection saves it from internal liquid damages and also makes it an appropriate choice for daily use in a dusty environment. However, this feature doesn’t mean that it is completely waterproof, but can nonetheless withstand splashes – still a rarity in the budget segment.
Despite being a low budget device, the Redmi Note 7 is a worthy buy because of some exciting features. One of these is the 48-megapixel primary camera, which could be the biggest selling point. The main lens is accompanied by a depth-sensing 5-megapixel se. Besides these, the smartphone packs dual LED flash and the lenses are AI-enabled. The camera also supports panorama modes.
When it comes to the design of the device, the smartphone brings gradient colours that look classy and trendy. The Note 7 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC and runs on the latest Android v9.0 (Pie) with a 6.3-inch IPS LCD screen, having a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels. The Redmi Note 7 price is RMB 999 (approx. Rs. 10,500) for its 32GB /3GB RAM version and the 64GB/4GB RAM comes at RMB 1,199 (approx. Rs. 12,500). The top-end variant has 64GB/6GB RAM and is priced at RMB 1,399 (roughly Rs. 15,000).
