Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max names tipped ahead of launch

“At the moment, it is not clear when Xiaomi plans to launch Redmi Note 9 in India though”

Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max are the monikers of the phones that will be launching in India on March 12th, according to noted leaker Mukul Sharma a.k.a. Stufflistings. The tipster further claims the brand won’t be introducing the vanilla Redmi Note 9 on the stage, which probably means that it will be launched at a later date. The Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max will succeed the Note 8 line-up that was launched in October 2019. Both the phones are confirmed to feature quad-camera setup in a square-shaped module, fast-charging capabilities and premium design with glass back. They will be available on Amazon.in alongside Mi.com when launched.

Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro Max specifications

Talking about the specifications, the Redmi Note 9 Pro with Snapdragon 720G was recently spotted on Geekbench with similar scores as the Realme 6 Pro that was launched in India on Thursday. The listing suggested the Redmi Note 9 Pro will launch with 6GB of RAM, Android 10 OS with MIUI 11 custom skin and a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 720G SoC. However, there could be other RAM variants and expandable storage options during launch.

On the other hand, not much else is known about the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max except for the quad-camera setup, fast-charging support and a curved glass back. Both the phones will come with ISRO’s NavIC geolocation system, as confirmed by Redmi India head Manu Kumar Jain recently. The quad-camera setup could include a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, accompanied by an ultra-wide-angle lens, a depth sensor and a macro or mono lens. With the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Pro Max launch just a few days from now, we don’t have to wait much longer to know more information.
