Redmi Pad 2 India launch set for June 18th, tablet goes official globally

Redmi Pad 2 is an upcoming budget tablet in India and the successor to the Redmi Pad launched in 2022. Xiaomi has confirmed that it will arrive in India on June 18th. Meanwhile, the tablet has launched in the Philippines with a larger 9,000mAh battery and the latest Android 15 software. Redmi Pad 2 India launch details

  • As already mentioned, Redmi Pad 2 will launch in India on June 18th, 2025.
  • It will be available via Amazon India. The company has hosted a microsite on the e-commerce site as well as on mi.com.
  • From the microsite, we learn the Redmi Pad 2 will support Wi-Fi + Cellular. So, the tablet could stay connected to the internet even without Wi-Fi.
  • The Redmi tablet will also support the Redmi Smart Pen. From the teaser images, we suppose the Smart Pen can be used to trigger Circle to Search.

    • The Redmi Pad 2 has been launched in the Philippines at PHP 10,499 (about Rs 16,200) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.

    • Globally, the tablet is available in grey, light blue, and silver colours. It is up for grabs through Shopee.com.
    • For context, the original Redmi Pad launched in India in 2022 at an introductory price of Rs 12,999 for the 3GB RAM and 64GB storage model.

    • Display: Redmi Pad 2 sports an 11-inch LCD with 2560 × 1600 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and up to 600 nits peak brightness.
    • Processor: It is powered by a MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra. Similar to the Helio G99 SoC inside the predecessor, the new chip also features a 6nm process node, two Cortex A76 performance cores at 2.2GHz and six Cortex A55 efficiency cores at 2.0GHz clock speed. 
    • Memory: You get up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB UFS 2.2 storage, which is further expandable via microSD card.
    • Audio: For sound, you get quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
    • Camera: On the front, you get a 5MP snapper for video calls and selfies. On the back, there is an 8MP sensor similar to the first-generation Redmi Pad.
    • Software: The tablet boots on Android 15 with HyperOS 2.0. You get Circle to Search.
    • Battery: Powering the device is a 9,000mAh cell (larger than before) with 18W fast charging support. 
    • Connectivity: Among other things, you get 4G cellular, USB-C port and face-unlock.

    What’s new

    Compared to the original, here you get a slightly larger screen (11-inch vs 10.61-inch of Redmi Pad) with a higher 2.5K display resolution and more brightness (600 nits vs 400 nits of Redmi Pad).

    The company has also added a headphone jack, stylus support, a bigger 9,000mAh battery (vs 8,000mAh cell of Redmi Pad), and updated the OS/UI. The front camera has been downgraded from 8MP to 5MP, though.
