Xiaomi has launched five tablets so far, namely the Mi Pad, Mi Pad 2, Mi Pad 3, Mi Pad 4, and Mi Pad 4 Plus, but it hasn’t returned to the tablet market since 2018. This might come from the fact that the Android tablet market is shrinking as iPads continue to gain popularity worldwide. Though Samsung, Huawei, and Lenovo haven’t given up yet and they are launching tablets at regular intervals. Now, it looks like Xiaomi is finally gearing up to return to the tablet game, though via its standalone brand-Redmi. The upcoming tablet is dubbed as Redmi Pad 5G and a teaser poster of the same has surfaced online, courtesy of Techindeep. It reveals key details of the tablet, including the chipset OS, higher-screen refresh rate and much more.
Redmi Pad 5G price, specifications
According to the poster, The Redmi Pad 5G is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, will boot MIUI for Pad system, have 90Hz refresh rate, and 30W wired fast-charging. It is tipped to arrive with ultra-linear quad cameras and 48MP main camera. The tablet will be available in black and white colours. As for the price, the Redmi Pad 5G is said to start at RMB 1,999 (around Rs 21,700). Design-wise, the Redmi Pad 5G has narrow bezels on both sizes and the selfie camera is present in the top frame.
Though there is no exact launch date yet, Techindeep publication claims that Xiaomi might introduce the Redmi Pad 5G on April 27th along with Mi 10 Youth and MIUI 12. But since we can’t authenticate the legitimacy of the claim, we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt for now. If Redmi Pad 5G is indeed in the works, we should know more details soon. Stick around.
