- After smartphones and wearables, Redmi may finally foray into smart TVs in India
- The brand could launch the Smart TV X series in India
- Redmi TVs are said to be priced aggressively to take on the competition
Redmi TV India launch may finally be around the corner if a new tip is to be believed. After marking its presence felt in India with smartphones and wearables, Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi may finally foray into the smart TV segment, according to noted tipster Mukul Sharma. To recall, Redmi already sells smart TVs in China and the brand is now looking to expand to India. The tipster claims the Redmi TVs will launch in India as early as March and will be priced competitively. The brand could bring the Redmi Smart TV X series that launched in China in 2020 in 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch sizes. However, there’s always the possibility that Xiaomi could have India-specific Redmi TV models.

To recall the Redmi Smart TV X series specifications, the smart TV is available in three models: 50-inch,55-inch, and 65-inch sizes with 4K display, NTSC 85 per cent, wide colour gamut, and an impressive 97 per cent screen to body ratio. The TVs come with a metal frame, MEMC (Motion Estimation Motion Compensation) technology with a 60Hz intelligent compensation algorithm for smoother playback. They feature quad 12.5W speakers with an 8-unit subwoofer system. The TVs support Dolby audio and DTS-HD for the immersive audio experience, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage for apps, and far-field mics for voice control. The Redmi Smart TV X variants are equipped with a XiaoAI assistant and can control IoT devices as well. They are powered by a quad-core Cortex A73 processor and run on Android TV with PatchWall UI.
