Computex 2014: ASUS announces refreshed ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 5

ASUS has announced refreshed editions of its two ZenFone smartphones at Computex 2014. The company has released an LTE variant of the ZenFone 5, while the ZenFone 4 has been updated with a newer chipset.

ZenFone 4 colours

The refreshed ASUS ZenFone 4 comes with a more powerful Intel processor, but the chipset hasn’t been specified. The company hasn’t announced any other details, but we’ve been hearing unconfirmed reports that the new ZenFone 4 has a bigger 4.5-inch display, compared to 4-inch screen on the previous model. In addition, the the phone reportedly gets an 8MP rear camera, compared to the 5MP shooter on its predecessor.

ZenFone 5

The ASUS ZenFone 5 has been updated with support for 4G LTE bands. It has also been given a new processor for LTE support, a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC, compared to the a 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 dual-core CPU on its predecessor. We don’t know if any other features have been modified.

ASUS unveiled its ZenFone lineup at CES 2014 in January. The phones were expected to launch in major markets in April, but were never released.
