Reliance AGM 2021: Jio 5G phone, Jio 5G network launch, JioBook, and more expected

Reliance AGM 2021 date was finally revealed earlier this month. The 44th Annual General Meeting is set to take place on June 24th at 2 PM IST. The Reliance AGM 2021 will likely be live-streamed through YouTube as has been the case over the past few years. Like last year, the upcoming Reliance AGM 2021 is expected to be packed with announcements, mostly 5G-related. Continuing last year’s AGM, we expect Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani to announce the low-cost Jio 5G phone, Jio 5G services launch date in India, JioBook, and more.

Jio 5G phone

Last year, Reliance Jio announced it had partnered with Google for the Jio 5G phone launch in India. The upcoming Jio 5G phone will run on a forked version for Android and will be among the cheapest 5G phones in the country. In fact, early reports revealed the Jio 5G phone price in India to be as cheap as Rs 2,500. As of now, the cheapest 5G smartphone in the country is priced at Rs 13,999. Jio is looking to bring 5G to the masses and a Rs 2,500 5G phone will help millions of 2G feature phone users to make that leap to 5G.

Jio 5G network

The Reliance head revealed back in December that Jio 5G services will roll out by mid-2021, which coincides perfectly with the Reliance AGM 2021. The company has already achieved speeds of over 1Gbps in its 5G trials. Jio said that it has created a complete 5G solution from scratch and the company plans to use 100 percent home-grown technologies and solutions. Jio began 5G field trials in Mumbai this week with its own hardware. Ambani could also reveal the Jio 5G plans during the AGM 2021.

JioBook

In addition to the Jio 5G phone and Jio 5G service, the company could also announce a low-cost JioBook laptop. In March, key JioBook specifications were leaked along with an image. The laptop is said to run on a custom Android version and it could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset, which makes sense considering Jio’s ongoing partnership with Google and Qualcomm. The JioBook is tipped to feature a 1366×768 resolution, 2GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage. A higher variant could offer 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
