That said, Mukesh Ambani will continue to be the chairman of Jio Platforms Ltd, the flagship company that owns all Jio digital services, including Jio Infocomm.
Akash’s appointment as the new chairman of Jio is in recognition of the contributions he has made to the digital service, the company said in a release. Akash has been involved with the creation of the digital ecosystem around Jio 4G in India.
Akash Ambani also worked closely with a team of engineers in creating and launching the Jio Phone back in 2017. He also led the key acquisitions made by Jio in the digital space in the last few years and has been involved with the development of new technologies and capabilities, including AI-ML and blockchain.
