Reliance Jio is credited for shaking up the telecom industry a few years ago by launching ultra-affordable mobile data plans. Over the years, we have seen changes to Jio data plans with increasing competition from the likes of Airtel and Vodafone Idea (now called Vi). Still, Jio ranks amongst the top when it comes to offering affordable prepaid recharge plans. In fact, one of the data packs offers users 1GB data at just Rs 3.5. Wondering how this is possible? Here’s a closer look at the Jio plan we’re talking about.
Jio Rs 599 plan: 1GB data at Rs 3.5
The Rs 599 Jio plan is one of the most popular prepaid recharge plans from the company. It’s not the cheapest plan if you look at it from a surface level as you do have Rs 249 and Rs 444 plans as well. However, if you break down the per GB data value, you’ll find that the Rs 599 offers more for less.
With the Rs 599 Jio plan, you’re actually paying around Rs 3.57 for 1GB data. The plan itself offers 2GB daily data for a period of 84 days. This way, customers get a total of 168GB data for Rs 599. In comparison, the Rs 444 Jio plan offers 1GB data at around Rs 4. The plan offers a total of 112GB data for a period of 56 days. Looking at these two plans, it seems the Rs 599 Jio plan offers more per GB value.
The Jio Rs 599 plan includes other benefits such as unlimited Jio-to-Jio calling, 3000 minutes for calling on a non-Jio network, 100 daily SMSs, and subscription to Jio apps. To compare, Airtel offers a Rs 598 plan that is valid for 84 days and offers 1.5GB data per day for a total of 126GB data. The per GB cost comes to around Rs 4.75. Vodafone Idea has a similar Rs 599 plan that offers 1.5GB data for 84 days, bringing the per GB data cost to Rs 4.75 as well.
