“Samsung will be reportedly releasing several new budget smartphones under the A series and the Galaxy A20 is one of them”
This isn’t the first time that we have seen the Samsung Galaxy A20 get listed on Geekbench. The phone appeared on the benchmarking site last month revealing some of its specifications. The listing also showed that the phone ran the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system. Interestingly, the phone has appeared on Geekbench once again, but this time, it can be seen running Android Go.
The Samsung phone has the model number SM-A260F, which means that it could be the Galaxy A20. We are not sure about this though, but it most likely is a separate variant of the phone running Android Go. The hardware specifications in the listing are also different from the previous specs spotted on Geekbench. This variant of the phone comes with 1GB of RAM and is powered by the Exynos 7870 chipset. As per previous had 3GB of RAM and the Exynos 7885 processor. This indicates the A20 can be expected to be the most affordable offering in the new A series lineup.
That’s all the benchmarking site reveals about the Android Go-based variant of the Samsung Galaxy A20. If you are unaware, Android Go is the slimmed-down version of Android Oreo made for budget smartphones with basic hardware. Yes, this variant will be running Android 8.1 Oreo, which contradicts with previous Geekbench listing which mentioned that the A20 comes with Android 9.0 Pie.
As per reports, Samsung is planning on launching at least five new phones in the A series as per reports. The Galaxy A30, A50, A70 and A90 have all been spotted on benchmarking sites quite often. Since the Galaxy A20 is the most basic of the lot, it’s also possible that this phone may not get a fingerprint scanner. We can also expect the Android Go-based variant of the A20 to be more affordable than the standard model and sold in certain regions only. Sadly, we don’t have any idea as to when Samsung plans to the new A series smartphones.
