Samsung Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 smartphones with Infinity U displays launched

After months of leaks and speculations, Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy A series (2019) smartphones have been officially announced. The Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 are the first offerings of the lineup. Both Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 phones flaunt Infinity U displays, octa-core chipsets, beefy batteries, and high-resolution selfie cameras. The chaebol is likely to unveil these devices next month in the domestic market, so we will have to wait for the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 prices in India till then.

Both the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 smartphones feature what Samsung calls the “3D Glasstic” design, a rather gimmicky term used for glass or plastic back. Both handsets sport 6.4-inch Super AMOLED displays with full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,340p) resolution and a tiny Infinity U notch for the front camera up top. Other than these, both the devices are run by a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support. They are pre-loaded with Samsung’s AI Bixby Assistant and features such as Bixby Home and Reminder. Interestingly, both Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 have the same dimensions: 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7mm.

Moreover, the Galaxy A50 has an on-screen fingerprint sensor and triple cameras at the back panel. The setup includes a 25-megapixel (f/1.7) main sensor paired with 5-megapixel (f/2.2) and 8-megapixel (f/2.2) depth and ultra-wide angle lens respectively. For selfies, the A50 rocks an impressive 25-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.

The Galaxy A30, on the other hand, sports a capacitive fingerprint sensor on the back panel as well as Face Unlock. And, for selfies, it sports a dual 16-megapixel with f/1.7 + 5-megapixel f/2.2 cameras at the back and a 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture lens on the front for selfies.

The Galaxy A50 has an octa-core processor (4 x 2.3GHz + 4 x 1.7GHz) of unknown make and come with 4GB and 6GB RAM options and 64GB and 128GB storage options. On the other hand, the Galaxy A30 has an octa-core processor (2 x 1.8GHz + 6 x 1.6GHz), 3GB and 4GB RAM options, and 32GB and 64GB storage variants. Users will be able to expand the storage up to 512GB via microSD card on both the handsets.

Samsung is yet to reveal the prices of the offerings, but we can tell you that both the devices will be available in at least three colour options: Black, White, and Blue. The Galaxy A50 will also come in Coral shade inspired by scattered light. Other features if the two smartphones include AI Camera with Bixby Vision and Samsung Pay, among others.
